Pancake heaven

We know ‘new’ is stretching it, but when the pancakes are as good as we’ve heard, recently opened still counts! US favourite Clinton Street Baking Company boasts the fattest, fluffiest blueberry bad boys in town (and a lovely selection of other breakfast options, if you have room after the pancakes).

Healthy holistic

No sugar, no dairy, no gluten? No problem. One Café promises an uber-healthy menu featuring all kinds of superfoods including chia seeds, maca powder and bee pollen. There’s a comprehensive smoothie and shake list full of good stuff, and even the pancakes are healthy!

Alternative breakfast

For something different, try the Indian breakfast recently launched at House of Curry. There’s a selection of traditional Indian breakfast delicacies on offer in a quirky, relaxed setting with a lovely view. Don’t miss the chai latte and Indian coffee.

Fruit fiesta

Fresh from the streets of Paris, Le Paradis du Fruit offers sinfully sweet French pastries and treats, as well as healthier menu options such as fruit salads with goji berries. There are à la carte options, or you can go for one of the set menu breakfasts, which include drinks.

Weekday treat

Local foodies of renowned Ghaf Kitchen have a new pop-up location for January. The cool and quirky gourmet restaurant-on-wheels will be at Deus Café Sundays to Thursdays offering all-day breakfast options made from ethically sourced fresh ingredients.

Healthy brekkie in a hurry

Pret To Go offers busy breakfasters tasty treats – with no colourings, additives or other nasties – in a hurry. Expect something from everywhere; British cereals, American bagels and European pastries, and comprehensive labels on everything so you know exactly what you’re eating.

Go organic

Java Jolt serves a whole host of organic Raw coffees – freshly hand roasted – and a selection of organic teas, to accompany the breakfast treats. On offer are muffins, bagels and sandwiches with wholegrain bread freshly baked in-house. Ingredients are natural and organic where possible.

Family-friendly options

Lounge Café Italiano

Choose a Friday for breakfast here and you’ll find an extensive area set up just for little ones. Featuring a toy corner, story time, arts and crafts and even a movie area with beanbags, the café offers plenty of traditional breakfast options along with a child-friendly menu. Expect a light, bright and airy venue with a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, just perfect for a lazy Friday morning family feast.

If you’ve got little ones who are happy to play with bricks and train tracks or draw, you’ll love the children’s corner at recently revamped Bystro. Compact but comprehensive, it’ll keep them busy while you enjoy a yummy eggs Benedict or omelette. You’ll need to be early to bag the coveted table right next to the children’s corner, though, and be warned; we doubt even the most dedicated dieter can refuse a cherry sfoglia!

Sapori Di Bice

A second branch of the popular eatery is now open at JBR and parents will love the dedicated kids’ room. Little ones can make the most of a stack of toys, mini tables they can draw at and even their own little TV and gaming station, while parents enjoy the extensive breakfast menu including pastries, egg dishes, pancakes, waffles and, of course, plenty of good Italian coffee. There are even some organic or gluten-free options.
