Girl About Town at the Address Marina hotel’s birthday bash

The Address Marina hotel turns 5? Where has the time gone?

Not being a Marina resident in one of the many high-rise buildings, the traffic and time of day can usually determine whether you visit the area or not. The soon to be iconic tram had set off on its first journey earlier that day so although there was still evening traffic, the usual hammered congestion had thinned out somewhat, probably eased by the new rails in town.

I had never been to Shades. I know, terrible right? I had only managed to make it as far as Blends on the odd ladies night so I was not too sure what to expect. Needless to say, I was really impressed. The red carpet styled event shared a classic ambience, consistent with the soft lighting and live jazz music by a talented saxophonist. The fire dancers and fluorescent décor created a vibrant birthday performance and an evening of celebration that was certainly executed with flare!

Everyone was suited and booted perfectly and as the paparazzi snapped away, drinks and refreshments floated around with smartly dressed cocktail waiters. Food canapés made their way through the venue all evening and with that and the BBQ sizzling away, food was of abundance. From the truffle mushroom sandwich to the fragrant Indian samosas, by the end of the evening I was suitably satisfied on the food front.

There were competitions to win great prizes and a photo booth for dressing up and sharing the birthday experience to the world. A sizable leather-looking birthday cake, designed by the Head Chef, took centre stage in the main area of the venue towards the end of the night. The General Manager delivered speeches and a wide selection of congratulations to the Address Hotel team whilst the sparklers on top of the cake lit up the night skies.

The staff and the management who attended the evening were probably some of the nicest I’ve had the pleasure of rubbing shoulders with whilst being in Dubai. Along with their ethos and attention to detail there is certainly no doubt why the hotel will continue on through another 5 successful years… and beyond.

Thank you for a great birthday the Address Marina and a big happy birthday from the Aquarius team and I!
