Dining out

Punjabi style

The latest addition to dining options at the Ritz Carlton, Grand Canal, is the legendary Indian favourite Punjab Grill. The menu offers ‘an exquisite taste of modern India’, with authentic Punjabi dishes said to be fit for royals, in stylish, upmarket surroundings. It’s one for date night, a treat or a special occasion. 02 449 9839

Make mine a roast

The recently opened gastropub The Sportsman’s Arms in Zayed Sports City has launched a weekend roast dinner. Every Saturday and Sunday from noon until 11pm, you can get your hands on generous portions of roast meats with all the traditional accompaniments while you relax in the casual, laid-back venue. 02 403 4235

Lounging around

For sports fans big and small, there’s a new family-oriented venue in town. The Blu Sky Lounge & Grill at Southern Sun is billed as a sports bar and lounge with a focus on family and friends, a menu of fresh, tasty dishes from the grill and a relaxed, easygoing atmosphere. We hear little football fans will love it, especially if their team happens to be Manchester City! 02 818 4888

Picnic brunch

Baskets of fun

Yas Viceroy has introduced a new
family brunch just perfect for the cooler winter weather. The Picnic Brunch is held on the lawns of Palm Gardens, overlooking the Formula One track, every Saturday from 12pm until 4pm and includes a selection of starters, mixed grills and belly-busting desserts. Prices start from Dh295 for a picnic basket to feed four people, including a selection of iced teas and water, and guests can choose to upgrade to a house grape package for an additional Dh150 per person. Alternatively, a cash bar will be available if you’d rather just enjoy a beverage or two from the menu. This is definitely one to take the entire family to; there’s a petting zoo, a bouncy castle and balloon bending – among other fun stuff – so there will be plenty to keep little ones amused and to allow the whole family to relax. On top of this, you’ll also get the chance to pick up some fresh, local produce at the on-site organic food market organised by Yas Farm. For bookings call 02 656 0600.
