1. Staycation…

Feeling more like a resort on a remote island than just two hours outside Abu Dhabi, Danat Jebel Dhanna is ideal if you’re looking for a UAE holiday that lets you really get away from the rush of city life. What’s more, they’ve just opened 24 brand-new beachfront chalets, complete with their own terraces just steps from the ocean. Sit back and sunbathe or enjoy the water with regularly organised watersports, from kayaking and paddleboarding to rides on motor boats, with all non-motorised activities included in the price of your stay. Offering private, peaceful accommodation, the current chalet package includes buffet breakfast for a family of four, as well as further discounts on food and spa treatments, from Dh899. Visit

2. Go Mediterranean…

The new Jumeirah Al Naseem hotel at the Madinat Jumeirah is home to a pretty waterfront of F&B outlets, including Rockfish, Black Tap and the lovely Il Borro – a Tuscan bistro serving up delightful, authentic, fresh, wholesome food. We tried and loved delicious bresaola (some of the softest in town, we think), succulent carpaccio, home-made pasta stuffed with pumpkin and drizzled in truffle oil, a show-stopping tagliata di manzo (grilled striploin steak cooked to perfection and served with rocket) and, finally, a yummy, fluffy cheesecake. The service was wonderful, the food delicious and the atmosphere relaxed. Book a table next to the floor-to-ceiling windows that open up for a truly Mediterranean vibe. About Dh600 for two without drinks. 04 366 8888

3. Hit the beach…

Our favourite pancake café Clinton St. Bakery has brought a lovely big red food truck to Kite Beach. Head down to try the yummy pancakes, fried chicken waffles, salads, milkshakes and lots more. If you can’t make it out to the beach, Clinton St offers deliveries in the Jumeirah area – call 055 882 2475.

4. Pamper yourself…

Ssssh! Don’t tell anyone about casa havana salon. If you haven’t been to this Cuban-themed salon on Al Wasl Road yet, check it out. Pretty tiled floors, comfy armchairs for mani-pedis, lovely Latin American music in the background and high standard of services – it’s the kind of place that you want to tell everyone about but somehow keep to yourself. Each month Casa Havana offers special discounts – this month you can enjoy 25 per cent off eyelash extensions and protein hair treatments, 30 per cent off facials and 15 per cent off massages (Friday to Sunday). 5. Shop for bargains…

The lovely ladies behind Dubai start-up My Ex Wardrobe are back this month with some great evenings and opportunities to pick up stylish buys at a fraction of the price. If you haven’t been to one of their events before, take your purse and be prepared to spend as they have a great selection of everything from high street to high end, clothes, accessories, the works. Similarly if you are looking to make space in your closet, this could be your chance. For details of their upcoming events, keep an eye on their Facebook and Instagram.

6. Practice wellness…

Every Saturday throughout march, gaucho Dubai is welcoming women for a morning of yoga and nutrition tips from local gurus plus a healthy three-course meal from its ‘feel good’ menu for dh230 (including Yoga mat rental and healthy drinks). Call 04 422 7898

7. Watch a master at work…

Canadian fine artist Giselle Denis is coming to Dubai and will be in residence at Raffles Dubai from March 1 to 17 across various outlets so you can catch her at afternoon tea, or a Friday brunch, or some other spot where she is doing her art thing. For more information call 04 324 8888, or visit

8. Dine al fresco…

We love the sound of Simply Italian at Club Vista Mare on The Palm – a traditional Sardinian menu, created by a Sardinian chef, based on his grandmother’s recipes. Plus, a gorgeous outdoor terrace and relaxed atmosphere. A good place to make the most of the March weather.

9. Get empowered…

Fancy something different to do with your Sunday evenings? Life coach and founder of Pearlescence Cordelia Henry is holding a series of Lustre Parties – workshops and events for women with the aim of empowering all areas of a woman’s life, specially focusing on careers and entrepreneurialism. With a wide range of fabulous speakers covering topics such as: ‘A Man is Not a Financial Plan’ and ‘Overcome Your Business Challenges’, these nights are fun, lively, free and well attended (more than 200 women turned up to the last one). To book your space at the next event, on March 26, visit

Three ways to get a glow this month:

The unique protein technology is formaldehyde-free and is offered at Pastels salons across Dubai. From Dh1,000,

Glowing body - The newly opened spa at Palazzo Versace offers a range of deliciously revitalising treatments in beautifully luxurious, tranquil surrounds. Ideal for emotionally exhausted souls or anyone in need of a pick-me-up. Dh550, 75 minutes, 04 556 8899.

Whiter teeth - Definitely not your average dental experience – a teeth whitening appointment at Apa Aesthetics is like the Business Class version of a normal dentist’s. Plus, great service from the team, a lovely hygienist and sparkly results that make you instantly look and feel younger. Dh4,000. Call 04 709 1000 for more.
