It’s the festive season again and time to shamelessly deck the halls in swathes of shimmering gold. As the most extravagant of the metallics, gilded touches will add instant glamour for a truly decadent holiday.

Get the look

1 Dining tables should feel decadent. Gold is all about indulgence, so enjoy the feeling of richness it gives. Gold table runners, napkins, glassware and cutlery all look glorious together, so don’t hold back. More is definitely more.

2 Bedeck your boudoir. A bedroom can be transformed with gold-trimmed linens, sequinned and beaded cushions in ambers, bronzes and coppers. Gilt table lamps and a dark faux fur throw will complete the opulence.

3 Add drama by teaming gold with darker colours. Try a deep aubergine or black tablecloth at a dinner party. It will add depth – keep the look cohesive – as well as make candles and tea lights stand out.
