Week nine, day one

There are some things that have totally become a part and parcel of my life and then there are some I am still following consciously so that they too come naturally to me after a while.

First and foremost is my diet – Although I was a vegetarian, I was still eating too many acid forming foods and had no idea about my food intolerances. I now understand how important is it to maintain an alkaline PH in the body. To facilitate this, I have eliminated cow’s milk from my diet and substituted it with oats, almond, quinoa and rice milk. I have added alkaline forming grains like millet, quinoa, amaranth and seeds like sesame, pumpkin, sunflower, flax seeds. Most importantly, I have doubled the intake of fruits and vegetables in form of salads, stews, soups, baked and steamed veggies which help maintain this delicate balance. These new additions have become a part of my daily cooking. I can no longer eat big meals at night. Big breakfasts, medium lunches and little dinners have easily become a habit. I give the entire credit to my nutritionist, Lily at Dubai health and treatment center, who was so patient in my transition phase and made sure I understood the science behind each change that was suggested to me.

The colonics with Kay instantly cured me of my struggle to drink 8 glasses of water a day. Additionally, I am more conscious of my breathing all day long and try to breathe through the belly whenever I can. Thanks to Kay!

A healthy mind heart lives in a healthy body – I had heard this time and over again but got to understand it’s meaning after I incorporated the fitness regime in my days. Exercising (even a daily walk for 30 min) can work in dual ways to keep the body as well as the mind healthy. For our posture, body language and emotions are innately connected. You can’t really bury your heads in your hands and stoop your shoulders when you are happy.
