“I always knew that I wanted a rustic Spanish wedding and Adam was all for it. We got married in a beautiful organic vineyard called Can Ràfols Dels Caus. We didn’t actually see it (apart from pictures and videos) until a week before the wedding. Also, as an added stress, they had never held a wedding before... but luckily all went well. We held the ceremony in the courtyard, next to a beautiful old olive tree. My mum passed away when I was younger so we placed a candle in a mason jar, decorated it with twine, and hung it from the fig tree, under which we stood to get married. Afterwards, we had cava and canapés in an amazing subterranean fermentation hall and barrel room, which was carved from the rock. Dinner was in the gardens overlooking the vineyard and dancing in the glass room. We had sunflower cupcakes and we cut into a giant sunflower-shaped cupcake.
They wore: “Both our outfits were made by Dubai-based Barbaranne Heaton at Moirai Style. My dress was paid for by my stepmum, so I don’t know how much it cost. Adam’s suit cost Dh4,520.”
The bridesmaids: “I had one bridesmaid in London, one in Glasgow and one in Dubai. So we all sent links to various dresses via email and eventually we all settled on one from ASOS. It was a really lovely navy blue, strapless style – about Dh280 each. A bit of a bargain really! Luckily they all fitted as well!”
The photographer: “We used Ola Hopper and she ended up partying on the dance floor with us. She was amazing and really captured the day. She cost Dh5,870.”
The flowers: “Our flowers were arranged by our wedding planner/stylist/florist, Philippa Wyatt. She helped with some arrangements from afar, made the venue look fabulous and also made the flowers and buttonholes. This was part of the full decoration package, for around Dh8,400. www.philippaevents.com.”
