FERI REHA AT RAMI JABALI SALON, JBR

We all know that the key to a good cut and colour (and the hardest thing to find, especially in Dubai) is a brilliant stylist. Having recently had a colour let-down at my usual salon, I couldn’t have chosen a better place to face the foil again. The lovely Feri is a super-experienced stylist and colourist originally hailing from Germany, and she made a clear effort to understand my hair history and the look I was hoping to achieve. Based in the fresh and modern surroundings of Rami Jabali salon in JBR, Feri’s friendly and sensible advice immediately reassured me that I was in the hands of a true professional. Attentive, thoughtful and meticulous when it came to cutting, every step of the process was expertly done and I felt totally at ease throughout. Best of all, Feri managed to get my hair to a perfect, natural ash colour that I am thrilled with, and to shape my style so that it flatters my face and has made my hair much more manageable. Highly recommended for anyone looking for natural, quality-looking highlights, a really decent cut, and a blowdry to make you feel a million dollars. Worth every fil – I for one will definitely be back.

Price: Cut and blow, from Dh300; highlights from Dh550.

Details: Murjan 3, JBR. Phone/text Feri on 050 476 0837 for an appointment. – EE

THE LOFT FIFTH AVENUE, VARIOUS LOCATIONS

Relatively new to the Dubai hair scene, Loft Fifth Avenue is making a name for itself as a place for consistently high standards. I told my lovely stylist, Holly, that I wanted a change. We decided on a natural-looking ombre using the balayage technique (meaning by hand). First a base colour was applied (to cover any greys) and then when that had set and been washed through and blow-dried, Holly set to work on the ombre. The whole process took about three hours but I was kept well stocked with magazines and refreshments and the staff were lovely. The ombre is fabulous – exactly the change I wanted. Nothing too dramatic, and the tones that Holly chose complement my skin tone. One of the best hair experiences I’ve had in a very long time.
Price: Dh475 full head highlights, full head colour from Dh300 to Dh600 (depending on length of hair and brand of colour), Dh180 for a cut, Dh150 for a blowdry

Details: Branches at Dubai Mall, Palm Jumeirah, Bay Square, City Walk, Wasl Vita, Yas Mall. Call 800-THE LOFT (800-843 5638) to book an appointment. – LW

FELDVOSS, JLT

This crisp, white salon has a funky Scando edge and manages to be both cool and welcoming, offering me an elderflower presse as I relaxed into the ambient music. My stylist, Simone, was attentive and knowledgeable and used the salon’s

all-natural, paraben-free products to soften and even out my colour with a selection of gold, honey and darker tones. A head massage (bliss), expert cut and blow-dry later and I loved my natural look. A must-try!

Price: Dh360 for cut and blow dry, Dh450 for half-head of highlights

Details: Feldvoss – Scandinavian Hairdressers, Cluster Y, Jumeirah Lakes Towers, 056 254 3283, www.feldvoss.com. – KR
