5 ways to detox your skin over the weekend

Is your skin showing signs of the weekday blues? Here's a few easy tips on how to detoxify your skin

1. Go easy on facial products
The idea of a detox is to relieve your skin of excess products. Keep it simple by sticking to a daily cleanser, day lotion and night cream.

2. Tea time
Drink plenty of green tea. It’s loaded with antioxidants that help unclog pores and reduces puffiness.

3. Give your skin a quick lift
Massage your face in circular and upward motions with the tips of your fingers to stimulate the lymphatic nodes which acts as a mini facelift

4. Sweat it out
Getting exercising! A brisk walk, yoga or a hike can help work up a sweat and flush out toxins. The increased breathing – especially in fresh air – increases oxygen intake which helps with the detoxification process and increases blood circulation giving you more radiant looking skin.

5. Faux facial
Add a few drops of lavender oil to a bowl of hot water and hover your face over the steam to open up pores or wring out a soaked towel with the mixture and drape over the face for a few minutes. Apply a clay mask to detoxify any clogged pores or a moisture mask if your skin is dehydrated.
