3 ways to get summer ready
1. Use vinegar to stop your hair from fading!
Salt water and the sun can really strip the colour from your lovely locks. Here’s how to prevent this: mix ½ a cup of white vinegar into a spray bottle and spritz it on your hair. Leave it on for 10 minutes, then rinse it out to seal in your colour and you’ll be ready for a day of fun in the sun.
2. Sunburn solution
A quick-fix key to sunburnt skin is to get some aloe vera gel and pour it into an ice-cube tray and freeze it. Apply it over sunburnt areas or a hot forehead to soothe, calm and cool skin.
3. Flawless foundation
Creamy foundations are out for the summer. Use a formula that’ll stay put even through the heat and humidity. Try a liquid-to-powder formula that finishes matte, feels feather light and gives you airbrushed skin. If you’re a sucker for a glow, spritz on a face mist for a dewy look.
Sephora
Sephora Mask-querade mask range, from Dh25
A range of masks that will blow you away! Pick from a purifying mud mask to clarify your skin and unclog your pores, or pick one with hyaluronic acid to moisturise and plump skin through the night. Get fresher, vibrant skin with a detoxifying and oxygenating bubble mask or you could even opt for the potent Serum Mask if you’re concerned about fine lines and wrinkles. Our favourite, though, is the travel friendly Jelly Mask.
Marc Jacobs
Marc Jacobs Beauty Cover(t) Stick Colour Corrector, Dh195, Sephora
Practical and portable, these little twist-up sticks colour-correct skin to even it out completely in just one swipe. The creamy formula makes it easy to apply all over or as spot treatment to blur imperfections. The Bright Now is a pink and lilac blend that eliminates any obvious dullness in skin, while the Co(vert) Affairs, which is a combination of citron and lime shade, neutralises redness.
Reviews
By Terry Light Expert Click Brush foundation, Dh244, Saks Fifth Avenue
This is perfect for the woman on the go – just click and apply all over. The formula is amazing and has a buildable coverage, but what I love most is that I can actually do my make-up while I’m in a cab or have only minutes to get ready. The brush allows for the most natural yet flawless finish in seconds.
Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge, Dh49, Lifestlye
This is the perfect multitasking sponge – I can do my makeup with just this one sponge, no brush required. Once I dampen the sponge, I use it to apply my serum and moisturiser. Next I move on to my primer, which I also dab on with the sponge. I use it to blend in my foundation but I also use it to apply and set my makeup with loose powder – I even apply my blush with it. I could go on, but you get the point – you need to get yourself this blending sponge stat!
