New year, new you, and all that jazz. So why not make a beauty resolution and give your face a fresh start? The au naturel look took the beauty world by storm this season, with barefaced beauties boldly displaying fabulous, fresh faces at the A/W14 Richard Nicoll show. But if you’re not quite ready to shun the slap completely, turn to these perfecting products, which will subtly supe-up skin with no risk of looking like you’ve caked on the make-up. Magic.

Photoshop powders

Ever wish you could airbrush your face in real life? That’s exactly what retouching powders set out to do. Using unique colour-correcting technology, they blur out imperfections – from fine lines to redness – while remaining virtually undetectable, so you look naturally flawless. Bobbi Brown, Dh205, Debenhams.

The undercover cover-up

This secret superstar works wonders on a multitude of skin sins, from covering up dark circles to brightening tired eyes and concealing discolouration. It also has SPF 35 and is full of nourishing vitamin C and neuropeptides, for a non-drying, non-caking cover-up that stays totally undercover. Perricone MD No Concealer Concealer, Dh218,

The glow getter

Fake that dewy flush of youth with a hydrating highlighter. With potent botanicals, antioxidants, green tea, vitamins, and iridescent particles to moisturise and brighten dull, tired skin, use all over for a dewy look, or dab on to specific areas for a heavenly highlight. Mac Strobe Cream, Dh163.

The Bare Base

Boasting 100 per cent natural active ingredients, mineralised water and natural floral waters, this fabulous foundation gives a light, shine-free finish without masking skin. There’s no risk of a cakey complexion here – just natural radiance for skin that looks luminous. Diorskin Nude Skin-Glowing foundation, Dh240, Paris Gallery.

The expert’s pick

For a fresh flush and barefaced blush, celebrity make-up artist Hannah Lisa loves Nars’ The Multiple. “This cream-based product is great used on cheeks to give you a fresh, glowing, barefaced look. I love it because it really does what it says on the tin – you can use it anywhere. On your eyes, lips and cheeks, or as a highlighter – it’s fantastic.” Nars The Multiple, Dh195, Sephora The Dubai Mall and Mall of the Emirates.
