How do I slick it?

  • Slick do.

From slicked-back buns at Calvin Klein and Alexander McQueen to wet-look ponies at Alexander Wang and scraped-back tresses at Proenza Schouler and Thakoon – there’s only one way to wear your hair this season: super-slicked. Celebs are getting in on the action too, with the likes of Kim K, JLo
and Rita Ora rocking wet-look locks at the hottest events and parties. What better excuse do you need to skip a hair wash or two? Now’s the time to get greasing and flaunt hot hair with high-shine sleekness.

Set it

Your hair will do exactly as it’s told with this intense cream gel. Enriched with light-reflecting particles and hair-strengthening compounds, it’s like cement for your hair. Slick it through damp locks for a wet-look that will stay put all day long.

Shine on

For hair that shimmers and shines while staying put, I’m loving Lee Stafford’s Shine Head Spray. Whether your locks are long, short, curly or straight, this gives you a high-shine finish in a spray. The ultimate way to set your slicked-back ’do.

Straighten up

Stylist to the stars, Luke Hersheson, has finally brought his products to Dubai – a big hooray for hair! These straighteners have ultra-smooth, zero-drag titanium plates that produce negative ions, causing less frizz and damage while giving you sleek, shiny hair in seconds.

Smooth operator

This fabulous fixer nourishes, moisturises and revitalises hair to fight off frizz and tame pesky fly-aways. Rich in argan oil, it smooths hair down with a waterproof coating to leave it shiny and sleek.

The expert’s pick

The ultimate way to slick it? Get your goo on, says Cat Hawkes, artistic director at Marquee Salon. “To create the wet look, use a product like Kevin Murphy’s SuperGoo. It has a sticky texture so you will need to wet your hands first. Rub a substantial amount on your hands and spread through the hair with your fingers. If your hair is very dry you can mix it with a little serum.”
