Eileen Lee-Connor, 35+, is a beauty expert from the US

How she describes her style
I gave birth to my son 10 months ago so my post-pregnancy style is currently under construction. Pre-pregnancy I tended to be more classic with a touch of trend. I mostly wore dresses with clean lines, topped with a statement piece of jewellery and a cardigan during the day or flowy cocktail dresses with heels at night.

Why she’s in need of a makeover
I’m finding it really hard to motivate myself to get into shape again. Over Christmas I found myself avoiding pictures or placing the baby strategically in front of me for the shot.

What she thinks of her new look
I liked the peplum top, although I was a bit self-conscious that it emphasised my problem areas. I took some convincing with the pencil skirt too, because normally I am not a pattern sort of girl. Also, with the accessories, I probably wouldn’t have put a long necklace and a thin belt together. That said. it looked good with the crazy patterned skirt and strappy heels.

What Gemma says
Despite her reservations, Eileen has a fabulous figure, so I really wanted to make the most of that by getting her in some prints to show it off. This peplum top flatters her in all the right places and she has gorgeous hourglass curves, which work perfectly with a funky patterned pencil skirt.

Amanda Heathcote, 35, is a life-skills instructor from the UK

How she describes her style
I don’t have a ‘usual’ style. If I see something I like and I think it suits my figure, then I’ll buy it. I used to wear a lot of black, but for the past few months I’ve injected a bit of colour into my wardrobe.

Why she’s in need of a makeover
I moved to Dubai in September last year and have been feeling very homesick. My fiancé works away as he is in the maritime industry, so I felt as though I was in need of a bit of cheering up.

What she thinks of her new look
I was very nervous about taking part in a makeover as I’m not very confident and was apprehensive about someone else styling me. Fortunately Gemma understood my body issues and we chose the outfit together. The skirt is definitely something I would have chosen myself. I wasn’t so sure about the top when I saw it on the hanger, but when I tried it on I really liked it.

What Gemma says
I wanted to glam Amanda up from her casual denims, so we got her looking bang on trend in this pleather pencil skirt and embellished blouse. Pinching her in at the waist, it flatters her gorgeous hourglass figure perfectly.

Rita Feeney, 32, is a team leader at a training institute. She comes from Ireland

How she describes her style
My style is casual with an edgy twist. The type of clothes I usually opt for are summer dresses, skinny jeans and flat shoes. I then jazz it all up with accessories.

Why she’s in need of a makeover
I want 2014 to be a year of adventure, excitement and doing new things. A wardrobe rehaul will give me the boost of confidence I need.

What she thinks of her new look
If I was in a shop I would certainly pick up the maxi dress because I really like the combination of colours. However, the jacket and shoes would not be something I would normall buy. When I put the whole outfit together I thought, ‘this isn’t me’, but the feedback I got from the other girls on the shoot was good.

What Gemma says
Rita is already great at mixing and matching trouser combos, but I think she lacks the confidence to try new things. I made her over in a dress ensemble, teaming this gorgeous maxi with a cool cropped jacket.

Tania Khurana, 32, is a nutritionist from India

How she describes her style
On a normal day I like to be comfortable so I would usually opt for jeans. If I’m going out for lunch, I would probably pop on a pair of trousers and then dress them up with a nice top. I rarely wear dresses because I am always confused about what suits me.

Why she’s in need of a makeover
I’m in a bit of a style rut. Every time I go shopping I seem to pick up the same sort of things. Even my husband has commented on how similar all my clothes
look. I’m so bored with my look and would welcome some advice on what suits me.

What she thinks of her new look
When I first saw the dress I had my doubts, because the style looked very plain when it was on the hanger. I liked the colour though, and when I put it on I found it really complemented my skin tone. I would never have thought to team it with the accessories that Gemma selected, but when I saw the whole outfit together I loved the new me.

What Gemma says
Tania has an amazing complexion and figure, so I really wanted her to try the pastel-neon trend, and as I suspected, she rocked this tailored shift dress. She should definitely try more pieces like this because they work really well with her slim frame.
